Inmotion has launched a Kickstarter campaign for its latest e-mobility product — an insane 8,400 W electric scooter capable of hitting highway speeds thanks to a dual-motor setup. The Kickstarter campaign has proven wildly successful, generating over ten times the goal in just two weeks.

Inmotion's RS electric scooter recently launched with a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign that blew past its US$10,012 goal in a matter of days to end up with US$128,441 pledged at the time of writing. This is the Hong Kong-based company's first Kickstarter campaign, despite having launched numerous electric scooters and unicycles over the years. Notably, Inmotion guarantees delivery of the rewards of each pledge level, but the company is limiting purchases to the United States.

The Inmotion RS is equipped with a pair of 4,200-W electric hub motors that can drive the scooter to a claimed 68 mph top speed. That top speed is only possible thanks to a rather sizeable 2880 Wh battery that Inmotion says can deliver between 75 and 100 miles of range on a full charge. The RS can also tackle inclines of up to 25°, making it rather practical in places where less powerful e-scooters would generally struggle.

One of the Inmotion RS's most interesting features is its Transforming suspension customisation system. The front and rear suspension of the RS e-scooter can be adjusted to four pre-set height levels, altering the ground clearance for different terrain and use cases. The Transforming system allows for ground clearances of 183 mm (7.2"), 232 mm (9.1"), 279 mm (10.9"), and 303 mm (11.9"), with lower settings offering better stability at high speed on smooth roads, while the taller options improve your chances on rough roads.

The high-performance motors and battery and other tech come with considerable weight penalties, though, and the Inmotion RS coming in at a hefty 58 kg (128 lbs). Needless to say, you're probably not carrying this particular e-scooter onto a bus or up a flight of stairs. During the Kickstarter, the Inmotion RS e-scooter comes in at US$3,499, but the price will increase to US$4,599 after launch. Deliveries of the Inmotion RS e-scooter are expected to start in July 2023.
